The trip was amazing!!! Thank you so much for all of your work on it. We really couldn't imagine it being any better. Although we were constantly on the go, it certainly wasn't overly tiring, and we are quite pleased with how much we got to see and do. Because of an overbooking on our flight from New York to Dublin, we were put in first class!!! That was fantastic. :-) All of the hotels were great, we certainly felt spoiled. No complaints about the flights, the rooms, or the driving.
We saw soooo many castles and cathedrals. Patrick's favourite was Stirling Castle, but I'm partial to Glamis. Pat's favourite city was Edinburgh (no surprise there). I don't think I can pick. I loved it all. No matter where we were, there were mountains and green space surrounding us. I do have to agree that Edinburgh was pretty amazing though. With the fringe and international festivals going on, the Royal Mile was crazy busy with fun things all over the place. The tattoo was incredible, I could never explain just how amazing that was. It was so great to be right in front of the castle for that.
I loved that the itinerary left a bit of room for us to add things in ourselves, so we went to the Chester Zoo, and spent a bit of time at Lake Windemere at the national park and took out a little row boat for a bit to wander around the lake. The castle we stayed in was really pretty, and had a fantastic pool/spa area that we used both evenings we were there. Much needed down time. :-)
I think we took about 900 pictures and I don't think any of them will do the scenery any justice. We liked the Hop on/Hop off bus tour in Dublin so much that we also did it in Bath. And thank goodness we did one in London, otherwise we never would have seen anything - London is huge! But I got to do some shopping on Oxford, so it's all good. :-) It was a fantastic experience, and we'll certainly be going back again, hopefully sooner than later.
Thank you again for your help with making our honeymoon the best it could possibly be. I'm sure you'll hear from us again when we want to book another trip. I'll send you a couple of pictures once we sift through all of them. Take care until then!
